What are impressions?

When we meet someone for the first time, we have an impression / judgment / perception of that person in less than a second. They can shift and evolve as we get to know that person better.

Much here is related to context, how the person behaves alone, in his work environment, in family circles, in the nightlife, and so on.

Impressions is about a certain image that we form about someone, this happens through observation and limitation of information. The work is experimenting with filling in the released information. As a maker, I send the viewer with the information I release about that person. Neutrality is the objective, but the question is also to what extent this happens unconsciously.

Wat zijn impressies?

Wanneer we voor de eerste keer met iemand kennismaken, hebben we in minder dan een seconde al een indruk/oordeel/perceptie over die persoon. Die kan verschuiven en evolueren naargelang we die persoon beter leren kennen.

Veel hangt hier samen met context, hoe gedraagt de persoon zich alleen, in zijn werkomgeving, in familiale kringen, in het uitgaansleven, enzovoort.

Impressies gaat over een bepaald beeld die we vormen over iemand, dit gebeurd door observatie en beperking van informatie. In het werk wordt geëxperimenteerd met het invullen van de vrijgegeven informatie. Als maker stuur ik de kijker met de informatie die ik vrijgeef over die persoon. Neutraliteit is de doelstelling, maar de vraag is ook in welke mate gebeurd dit onbewust.
